Does Our State and Local Work Matter?

Don't tell me you haven't wrestled with this question. In the utter turmoil, shock, and dismay of headlines about war, masked ICE secret police, and soaring health insurance premiums, it can seem trivial to spend an hour commenting on the absurd bills being introduced at the legislature. It might feel like a waste of time to protest zoning decisions made by your City Council, or to write a letter to the editor about vaccine policy for children. 
 
But our state and local work matters deeply. Let me tell you why.
