Dr. Amelia Gallitano-Mendel  is a physician who has spent many years researching the environmental  and neurological sources of mental illness. Her overwhelming concern for  the future of the environment, medicine and research, the middle class  and our democracy moved her to run for office in order to change the  state’s policy trajectory. Her impressive track record includes  organizing a Women in Medicine and Science group at the University of  Arizona-Phoenix to push for more women in positions of power.

Sen. Lauren Kuby has been a  steadfast and hardworking representative for LD8, and has proven her  progressive bona fides over and over. She has sponsored bills ranging  from support for sustainable energy and collective bargaining to  limitations on ESA vouchers and collection of personal data (none of  which have been advanced in the legislature by the majority party). She  frequently interacts and meets with constituents to stay attuned to  their concerns and needs. We can’t imagine a better senator fighting for  the people of her district.

At age 26, Rocque Perez  already has an impressive resume that reflects his deep roots in his  Tucson community and dedication to public service. From serving in  student government at the University of Arizona, he worked in the  university’s Communications Department, then served on the Southern  Arizona Education Council. In 2025, he was unanimously appointed to the  Tucson City Council, where he helped direct more than half a million  dollars into small businesses, nonprofits, schools and neighborhood  projects while also supporting affordable housing and preserving  investments in early childhood education. In his 8-month tenure on the  Tucson City Council, he helped pressure the university to reject  President Trump’s attempt to suppress free speech and restrict foreign  enrollment, and supported the Council’s rejection of Amazon’s Project  Blue data center.

First elected in 2024,  Brian Garcia has shown dedication and an ability to delve into complex  policy details. He is a leading member of the legislature's LGBTQIA and  Indigenous Peoples caucuses, providing consistent and eloquent  representation for minority communities. As a public school alumnus from  elementary through law school and a past member of the Tempe Union High  School Governing Board, he focuses on promoting public education and  fighting the corrosive impact of ESA vouchers. He is a stellar  representative for LD8 and should be re-elected.

Stephanie Stahl Hamilton  was first elected to the Legislature in 2020 and has served with passion  and dedication. An ordained minister, she leads with values of equal  opportunity for all and support for a well-funded public education  system that provides a strong foundation for every child. She introduced  and fought for the bill that finally overturned Arizona’s territorial  abortion ban in 2024. She is a strong progressive voice in the Arizona  State Legislature and should be re-elected.

Miranda Lopez is a two-time  University of Arizona graduate with a Master’s Degree in Public  Administration. She has served as a community organizer for the last  eight years, including as the former Executive Director for the Pima  County Democratic Party, Southern Regional Director for the Arizona  Students' Association, and Treasurer for United Campus Workers Arizona.  She knows what it’s like to be burdened with student debt, to survive  paycheck to paycheck, and to advocate for working class families. She  shows an acute ability to discern the far-reaching implications of  policies that seek to criminalize campus protests, to weaponize policies  that would harm LGBTQ+ allies, and to shift private financial  obligations onto the public dime.

Lisbeth is a mental health  clinician with a strong history of community engagement on behalf of  immigrant communities, including as a Board Member for Phoenix Allies  for Community Health (PACH) and Salud en Balance (Health in Balance). As  an immigrant herself, she is deeply familiar with the lived experiences  of immigrant and mixed-status families in her community. She shows an  acute ability to discern the far-reaching implications of policies  seeking to criminalize campus protests, weaponize policies that would  harm the LGBTQ+ community, and bills that shift private financial  obligations onto the public dime.
